Brief Introduction

I am a tutor of Hartley Victoria College, and the focus of my role is the provision of lay training across the six Methodist districts of the North West region. In particular, I am involved with developing opportunities for people to deepen discipleship and explore their vocation within and beyond the church.

Prior to my appointment at Hartley Victoria College I studied Divinity at Aberdeen University, and then Theology and Pastoral Studies at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield. My main research interests have been rooted in Biblical Studies, although always springing from a concern for our contemporary praxis. I love the way New Testament writers take up and re-interpret Old Testament language and imagery as they explore and express their own theology, making unexpected connections along the way. I also have an interest in childhood experience of the Eucharist, and the relationship between belonging, believing and understanding.

I am a Methodist Local Preacher. My husband Paul and I have two young children.

Dissertation titles:

Holy and Pleasing to God: A Study of the sacrificial understanding of worship in the New Testament

The fulfilment of Isaiah's Exodus in Luke-Acts: The interdependent identities of the Christ and the New Community

MA Research Projects:

The Sacrificial Death of Jesus in the Synoptic Passion Narratives, seen in the context of Judao-Christian Sacrificial Theology

What part does the Eucharistic liturgy play in a child's development of an 'appreciation of the significance of the sacrament'?
