Luther King House Open College - for independent lay students and ordained ministers Print

Luther King House Open College is one of the five colleges that comprise the Luther King House Educational Trust.  The President of LKHET, Dr David Goodbourn, provides the academic lead for Luther King House Open College.  Tutorial support is provided from within the pool of LKHET staff.

The Open College is not attached to a particular denomination, and accepts lay and ordained students from across the region and from further afield.

Students attend classes with others from each of the denominations present at LKH but also gather together for Open College sessions covering topics as diverse as career development, retreat exercises and end of year celebrations.

Student working at a computerWhether you are a lay person or an ordained minister, through our courses we encourage and enable you to relate your theological learning to your own ministry context in your church or in the wider community, exploring how your theological understanding might shape your practice, and how your ministry context might shape your understanding of theology.

You can study full-time or part-time through our Open College, on our full range of courses.

Our undergraduate degrees are validated by the University of Chester, and our postgraduate degrees are validated by the University of Manchester.

You are also able to attend many of our taught courses just for your own personal interest, without needing to submit any work for assessment and without gaining formal accreditation, at a significantly reduced cost.  Please click on the links for our Short Courses and Guided Reading Scheme options, below.
