Northern College Courses Print

Northern College works with its ecumenical partners at Luther King House and in the Southern Northwest Training Partnership to provide courses in contextual theology, integrating academic excellence with practical experience in church and community.

Those preparing for ministry of Word and Sacrament normally study on either the Foundation Degree/B.Th or the MA in contextual theology.

Those preparing for church-related community work follow a community work pathway within the FdA/B.Th, leading to a qualification in community work which is recognised by the England Standard Boards, and theology.

Many ministers serving in the United Reformed Church take our MA or short courses within it, as part of their continuing education and professional development.

All of the courses in the partnership are open to lay people, and as part of our commitment to learning for the whole church, we have developed an annual programme of short courses along with our ecumenical partners.  As with our degree programmes, our short courses are open to all, and are eligible for EM3 funding.  Assembly accredited lay preachers may claim for these courses out of their in-service £200 annual allowance.   We are currently developing an additional programme of one-off events for lay preachers - for more information, please contact the Luther King House Registry Office, on 0161 249 2504, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
