Short Courses in Theology, Ministry & Discipleship
Attending a short course gives you a chance to learn more about theology and about the Bible without assessment towards a degree. Most of our short courses are drawn from modules which make up the foundation degree, so it gives you a chance to test the waters to see if you'd like to take your learning any further. We have courses in biblical studies, mission, evangelism and interfaith relations, leading worship, preaching, teaching, pastoral and practical ministry, ethics and church history, to name just a few areas. If you are trying to decide whether you have the necessary background knowledge to take one of these courses, do contact us. Many of those studying with us have left school at 16 and find themselves surprised at how well they do, so don't be put off, give it a go. For more information about our short courses, click here.

Foundation Degree in Mission & Ministry
& BA in Contextual Theology
This is a real chance to relate your Christian learning to an academic qualification. You will not sit in a classroom and be lectured at, you are encouraged to bring the wealth of experience you have from your day to day life to the programme and to the assignments you will write, combining theological and biblical learning with placement experience in your own church context.
The course is available as a midweek option or weekend option. People who are interested in developing skills in community work take the church related community work pathway through the degree which involves attendance at the weekend option and at block taught community work modules. MA in Contextual Theology
Is for those wishing to deepen their understanding of theology in the 21st Century and/or to enhance their lay or ordained ministry practice. Throughout the taught modules the experience of the participant's own context is crucial as they engage in lectures, group discussions, guided reading and participant led seminars, developing skills in critical analysis and reflective practice. Research Programme
Luther King House only accepts a small number of research students each year. Research can be pursued at MPhil level or as a PhD.
The research programme offered by Luther King House is unusual in that students spend their first period on the programme working on a research proposal for submission to Manchester University. During the period of working with an academic advisor fees are not payable. Click here for more information about the theology Research Programme. |
