Foundation Degree: Learning for Mission and Ministry Print

We offer a range of part-time and full-time routes to achieve our Foundation degree which is validated by Chester and Liverpool Hope universities.  The degree is centred around the work (voluntary or paid) which students undertake in their church or placement setting.  For example, when taking the academic course on Introduction to the Bible students are required to organise and lead a short Bible study group with members of the congregation or those attending a special interest group (eg. Fellowship Group or Youth Group)

To apply for any of our Foundation degrees, please complete and return to us the application form in the Attachments section at the base of this page.

Part-time weekend blended learning pathway

This part-time Foundation Degree is a four year course, and is validated by the University of Chester.

The taught hours for this course require attendance at Luther King House over 6 weekends during the year.  For 2010-11, the dates for these weekends are:

18-19 September 2010

20-21 November 2010

29-30 January 2011

19-20 March 2011

14-15 May 2011

2-3 July 2011

Activities begin at 9am on Saturday and continue through to the evening.

On Sundays they will begin at 8.30am and continue usually until 3.15pm.

This is not a residential course, but you are able to book accommodation through Luther King House Reception if you would like to stay here on Friday and/or Saturday night for any of these weekends (but please book accommodation early to avoid disappointment).  A light evening meal on Saturday and lunch on Sunday are provided free of charge each weekend.  If you would like Saturday lunch or any other meals over the weekend, these can be booked and paid for through Reception.

In addition, courses are supported through a virtual learning environment, with just over 50 hours of class contact time and  plus private study time.

You do also need to be engaged in some form of lay or ordained ministry or mission, for example, active engagement in your local congregation or involvement in a church-related project in the community.

The cost for 2010-11 is £1572, excluding any accommodation costs.

More information can be found in the document entitled "Part-time weekends FdA blended learning pathway information 2010" in the Attachments section at the bottom of this page.  To apply, please then complete and return the application form also attached at the bottom of the page.
